Mountain Valley Arts Council's exhibit in January will feature Kala Clontz who has just graduated from UAH in December 2019 with a Bachelor's of Fine Arts in painting and drawing, with a lot of photography thrown in.
Kala, of Guntersville, will be honored with an artist’s reception on Thursday, January 9, from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. at the MVAC Gallery, 300 Gunter Avenue in Guntersville. Appetizers will be served. The public is invited.
Kala's journey into the artistic world of painting and photography started when she returned to UAH to pursue a degree in psychology after closing Kala's Cottage. She was also pursuing a minor in art not fully comprehending how that would change her life.
Kala's painting started out as realistic from still lifes and then
from photographs. This last year she has evolved into abstract
painting in response to her photographs and from her own visions.
These paintings have been very well received from her professors and even visiting artists. There is something about sitting in front of a blank canvas and waiting to see what it has to say, Kala said
Kala is still surprised that she can paint and draw, so her exhibit will be a rich combination of her artistic development. You may find an art piece to keep. The exhibit will run from January 7-31 during regular Gallery hours.
