Andy Hunter & Johnny Brewer

Andy Hunter and Johnny Brewer were 18 when they co-directed "Harvey" at the Whole Backstage in 1979. Katherine Brewer was quick to point out those are soft drinks and not beers the young men are holding.

At age 22, Annamarie D'Angelo is quite young to be directing a play. But she has been around the theatre her whole live, both in high school at Arab and at the Whole Backstage. She will direct "Schoolhouse Rock Live Jr." this weekend and next at the Whole Backstage.

We thought she just might be the youngest director in Whole Backstage history. But before we declared her as such, we wanted to ask someone.

We asked Katherine Brewer, who has a great deal of inside knowledge of the history of the Whole Backstage.

It turns out that Johnny Brewer and Andy Hunter - who are both still involved with the Whole Backstage to this day - hold the honors as the youngest directors ever at the Backstage.

Johnny and Andy co-directed "Harvey" in 1979 when they were 18 years old. A few years later, Johnny directed "Annie" in 1982 at the age of 21.

Johnny will direct "Black Tie Christmas" later this year at the Backstage. Andy is currently the vice-president of facilities for the organization.
