I read a one-liner the other day that has me intrigued.
“Everyone has one item that can make them rich.”
A treasure is right here with me and I don’t know it. Well, I haven’t identified it, that’s for sure!
It has to be something physical, sitting right before my eyes. I immediately took an inventory of my place.
What’s really different and old? What’s an original and isn’t made anymore? What belonged to some famous person?
My first thought was a mantel clock my husband and I bought at an antique store. After checking it out on the internet, I wasn’t going to be anyway near rich.
A platter that my mother had would still be good for serving the turkey at Thanksgiving but it wasn’t going to provide me cash.
I just didn’t have anything that would even suggest riches. Then I thought about my storage room piled high with unpacked boxes.
I’m letting potential riches languish for 4 years now in my new place. What will happen is that I’ll pass away and the kids will open the boxes and find the treasure and become rich.
It’s always been my plan to clean out those boxes. When my kids visit, we can have a treasure hunt in that room, one box at a time. Put some fun in it.
My riches will probably be all the memories locked up in some obscure piece that I keep keeping! That sounds pretty good to me.
