As I write this, my thoughts are about the blessings we receive each day.

There are many that slip by without a nod of acceptance. Our lives fluctuate so in the ups and downs of the day that we aren’t totally aware of how each event affects our wellbeing.

I guess I’m in a reflective mood this morning…. One of gratitude and comfort. I read somewhere that we should all keep a gratitude jar. Each day write what we are grateful for in our lives on a small piece of paper and put it into the jar.

When we’re down, frustrated or discouraged, we can open the jar and read what we have written on those small pieces of paper.

The accumulation of grateful thoughts will grow, and we become more aware of both the big and small blessings we receive.

My one blessing this morning is hearing the birds chirping out in the early morning hours when most people are still sleeping. Nature has provided a comforting concert for me as I begin my day.

I look around my apartment at the paintings I have done. I’m blessed with a certain amount of talent that the Lord has given me. It pleases me.

And I get to share my feelings with all of you, hopefully touching a common thread between us. Communication is a blessing.

Our blessings are not necessarily linked to our success, our wealth, our belongings. Blessings nurture our souls in the smallest ways, like those birds chirping away. I am blessed today. So are you!
