I’ve started knitting again. I don’t make anything complicated. My choice this time is placemats for my table. Just straight knitting, nothing fancy.

I had to look up on the internet how to cast on stitches. None of this comes easy for me!

I had some failures in the process. I started over 3 times.

Knitting is pretty big in my family. My daughter, granddaughter and aunt all know what they’re doing. They have the curved needles and make big things like sweaters and afghans. I can complete a scarf or a shawl. But I keep trying. I’m not a very patient person or even steadfast in the knitting circle.

Every once in a while, I go back to the craft, usually in the dead of winter. It seems logical to knit something while I’m watching boring TV. These placemats seem easy enough for me, mindless knitting, they call it.

I’m aiming for 4 placemats. I do lose interest pretty fast so, at this point, I can’t guarantee it. I was going to make them for Christmas but that didn’t develop in my psyche.

Some days I’m motivated to take needles in hand but it’s short lived. I have completed 4 rows after tearing the project apart 3 times.

I should probably leave instructions in my will about completing these placemats for posterity. I have the cast on instructions handy.
