The Community Association held it’s monthly meeting on Monday, August 19. The group discussed plans for the upcoming Carnival, Concessions, and Concert set for Saturday, August 24, at 4 p.m.
There will be a carnival with kids games, clowns, pictures, cake walks, bouncy house, and concessions starting at 4 p.m. At 6 p.m. the First Baptist Pickers will entertain. We hope to have a big crowd and welcome neighbors and friends. The admission is free and donations will be accepted to go towards the groups goals for a park, a storm shelter and building repairs. Volunteers are still needed to set up Friday evening at 5 p.m. and Saturday at 2 p.m.
Thanks to everybody who came up and did some more work on the building during the recent work day. Also, thanks to everyone who has donated prizes, food, and other items for the Carnival.
Matt Smith spoke to the group about a free 2 part gun safety class he is willing to offer free of charge. He is a Certified NRA Pistol Instructor and has experience in security and the Reserves. There was a lot of interest expressed. A date will be scheduled.
Nancy McAlister celebrated her birthday with the group and won the monthly $10 gift card giveaway. Matt Smith will be celebrating his birthday next week.
The Fire Department was happy to help out Asbury with a brush fire in the neighboring area. They also held a control burn exercise on Valley View Rd.
