Grant Library

Vicki Chaney at the Grant Public Library said they will be conducting an adult beginner computer class on Saturday, Nov. 16, from 10 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. The class will include basic terminology, how to use a mouse and keyboard, how to set up and use email, and how to perform Internet searchers. Registration forms are available at the library now through Nov. 15. The class size is limited to 5 people, but we will be adding additional classes on Saturdays in November and December if the demand is high.

Make plans to attend the Saturday matinee showing for Family Movie Day in November. More details can be found at the library.

Grant Chamber of Commerce

The next Grant Chamber of Commerce Early Bird Breakfast meeting will be held Thursday, Nov. 21, starting at 7:30 a.m. It is sponsored by KDS DAR Heather Green and staff.

Grant Senior Citizen Center

The Grant Senior Citizen Center is open Mondays through Fridays, 6:30 a.m. until 11:30 p.m. Lunch is also served at 11 a.m. and they ask for a donation of $1.25 to cover the cost of the meal. They play cards, checkers, dominoes, and other activities. Their location is 307 2nd Ave. West, Grant, AL 35747. Bluegrass On The Mountain, Nov. 16. The gates will open at 2:30 p.m. They are located on 169 Horseshoe Bend Rd, Scottsboro at Dove Creek Farms inSwearengin. Admission is $5. 12 years and younger are free.There will be stage shows, jamming, concessions, arts and crafts, BBQ, cornhole and more festivities. Sign up for show cases today. Adult Education classes (GED) are held at DAR High School on Monday and Tuesday evenings, 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. You work at your own pace and receive individualized attention. The Swearengin Volunteer Fire Department is hosting a Turkey Shoot every Saturday through Nov. 23 at 9 a.m. The cost is $5.00 a shot. The location of the event will be at their Fire Department in Swearengin, 5120 Swearengin Rd, Scottsboro, AL 35769.

The Swearengin Volunteer Fire Department is also giving away a Browning A5 camo, 12 gauge shotgun. See a member of the fire department for more information.

Grant Parks and Recreation

Reminder: You don’t have to drive off the mountain to join a gym. The Tucker Fitness Center is open 7 days a week, 4 a.m. until 11 p.m. The cost is $10 per month. For more information, contact Joe Cagle at (256) 202-0025 or visit the Grant Parks and Recreation Gym at the Park.
