Livingston Chapel A.M.E. Church’s garden not only provides members with fresh vegetables, but it also is grown to provide fresh vegetables for the food pantry - designed for the sick and shut-in and for people who do not have access to fresh vegetables.
The garden includes tomatoes, cucumbers, okra and peppers. There are 124 tomato plants, and each member has two plants assigned to them. Maintaining the garden is done by an automatic system designed and installed by Jack Jackson. Plants are watered each morning and fertilized every Friday.
Livingston Chapel A.M.E. Church food pantry will be open Saturday, July 21, at 9 a.m.
