The Lakeview Community Civic Organization held its African American Heritage Celebration Sunday, February 17, at the Guntersville Museum and Cultural Center.

There were several performances to honor African Americans during the month of February. Alabama A&M University's Nu Epsilon Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Incorporated stepped, the Black History art contest winners were announced, a praise dance from the youth of St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church was performed, and there was a dramatization of "Listen to the Ancestors; They Deserve to be Heard."

There were two categories within the African American Art Contest. The Junior High Division resulted in several winners from Locust Fork High School. 1st Place Winner: Judson Pate; 2nd Place Winner: Hope Evans; 3rd Place Winner: Faith Evans. Honorable Mentions were Brayley Barr, Dreama Wright, and Addy Uptain.

The St. Minor Primitive Baptist Church clothing pantry is open Mondays from noon until 5 p.m.
