At the Marshall County Commission meeting, Coroner Cody Nugent requested two additional deputies in the amount of $2,600 for bond, equipment and training. The cost is $1,300 per agent.

He said that the reason he was requesting the additional deputies is because his staff has full-time jobs and he cannot ask them to step away from those jobs.

Nugent said with his job he has a little more flexibility to go to scenes, but there have been times when he could not leave. He said it can takes hours before someone is able to get to the scene.

One day he had three calls at about the same time and that had one family waiting on him for an hour and a half before he could get to their location.

The $1,300 was for one year and after that year the cost would drop to $100.

There was no motion for the additional two deputies which means that the Nugent will not have two extra deputies for the coroner's office.
