Overhead View of New GHS

A $53 million contract to build the new Guntersville High School was approved at Monday night's City School Board meeting. This is an overhead view of the school. The large courtyard in the center of the new building is where the existing GHS sits today.

The City School Board has negotiated $4 million off the price of building the new Guntersville High School. That brings the price down to $53,418,587.

But the Board still has a “funding gap” of about $16 million and they will be asking the City to go back to the bond market for a second bond issue to fund construction of the new school. Both Supt. Jason Barnett and bond counsel David Langham of Frazier-Lanier said the revenue streams are in place to support the additional bond issue.
