The VFW posts of Marshall County will hold their Veterans Day ceremony in Boaz this year rather than Guntersville.

They announced it in a statement. The ceremony is moving to the new Old Mill Park Pavilion on Highway 168 in Boaz. It will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 11.

The guest speaker will be Lt. Col. Allin Whittle, U.S. Army.

The Marshall County Sheriff’s Department will provide the color guard.

A formal wreath laying ceremony will take place at the Old Mill veterans monument and flag pole donated by the Boaz Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6837, honoring all Marshall County veterans.

“This ceremony replaces the annual Marshall County veterans ceremony formally held at the Marshall County Courthouse,” the VFW said.

There will be seating at the pavilion and the restrooms will be open. There’s parking in and around the park.
