Guntersville High freshman Jadyn Bonds leapt 5 feet 2 inches to finish as runner-up in high jump in last weekend’s state 4A-5A indoor track meet.
Just imagine what she could do if she had practiced.
“We’ve been redoing the track and I’ve never really had the chance to practice,” Jadyn said. “I just go and compete.”
Jadyn has been part of the GHS track program since she was a 7th grader. The 5-2 jump is her personal best. Her previous best was 4-10.
The school honored Jadyn at halftime of the subregional basketball game Tuesday night.
According to the GHS Booster Club, the jump now ranks Jadyn as the No. 1 freshman high jumper in the state of Alabama and among the Top 10 in the nation.
The start of outdoor track is just around the corner.
“And I’ll get to practice this year since we have the new track,” Jadyn said.
