Margaret Jones of 2305 Section Line Road is having an ongoing problem with people tearing up her flowers and she said her home has even been broken into and items stolen.
She has filed police reports, but can’t seem to get any satisfaction and it’s very frustrating.
The latest incident has her madder than a hornet. She had fixed up a living memorial of flowers and special mementos to honor both her son who was stillborn and her husband Harvey’s sister Vernie Midgett of Tennessee, who passed at the age of 91.
The memorial included a beautiful Encore rose bush, irises, an old-timey wheel with colored glass bottles had been added and a birdhouse, among other plantings and items.
Someone took a machete to it and mutilated it, Mrs. Jones said.
“There’s a gardenia trying to survive and a lilac bush,” she said.
Mrs. Jones has battled cancer and it’s just really trying for her. She said jewelry, clothing and other items have also been stolen from her home.
