In a rematch from a year ago, DAR and Good Hope played before a capacity crowd in the Burkey Center on the DAR campus Tuesday night.
A trip to the regional tournament at JSU was at stake; a trip made last year by the DAR Patriots courtesy of their thrilling 64-62 win over the Raiders.
This year, it was a game of runs with Good Hope hanging on late for the win. DAR jumped out to a 12-0 lead midway through the opening quarter before Good Hope battled back to take a 15-14 lead at the end of the quarter. The Raiders extended their lead to 37-26 at the half.
The Patriots fell behind by 17 points in the 3rd quarter before they started on the comeback trail. Good Hope's lead was trimmed to 58-51 by the end of the 3rd. DAR kept chipping away and pulled to within 3 at 77-74 with 43 seconds remaining in the game and also had possession of the ball. After a time-out, the inbounds pass was picked off by Good Hope stand-out Cole Maddox who raced to the other end for a dunk giving the Raiders a 79-74 lead.
Good Hope outscored DAR 5-2 over the final seconds to secure the win. Four Patriots finished in double figures in scoring with Koltyn Harbin leading the way with 30 points. T.J.Leonard added 14, Howie Boxley 13 and Landen Harbin 10.
Maddox poured in 40 points to lead Good Hope. DAR finished the season with a record of 16-14.
