Skylar McHan has been named the new band director for the Guntersville High Crimson Guard band.

The City School Board approved his employment Monday night. Corey Hyman, the band director the last several years, is departing for Albertville as their assistant band director.

McHan earned a BA in music education from Jacksonville State University and a MA in band conducting from Sam Houston State University.

He began his career as director of bands with Lanett City Schools in 2009. From 2010-2013, he served as the director of bands at Ider High School and served as the director of bands at Susan Moore High School from 2013-2018. He was the director of Dalton High School Band for the 2019 season.

Throughout his career, Mr. McHan has led concert and marching bands to superior and excellent ratings at state competitions, including a marching band state championship as well as two winter guard state championships, along with several Best in Class awards.

The Band Boosters are planning a meet and greet for the first week of July and plans will be announced soon.
