The Asbury Rams picked up a win in week one against Brindlee Mountain, but since then, they’ve found the schedule to be tough.
Last Friday, the Rams lost to Cedar Bluff 49-6 in a Class 2A Region 8 match up. First year head coach Chris Williams admits that the stats don’t look great, but progress is being made.
“The biggest plus is that we have kids that are trying, and are very coachable,” he said. “We’ve just got to learn how to be more physical and competitive for an entire game.”
The Rams gave up three touchdowns to Cedar Bluff on special team miscues.
“If we can fix the mistakes on special teams we’ll be in much better shape in each game we play,” Williams said. “It’s all about improving the little things.”
The Rams will take on North Sand Mountain (1-1) this Friday in another region matchup. Asbury will have to travel to Higdon to take on the Bison.
“As a coaching staff, we’re really starting to figure out where kids need to be on the field to give us the best chance of winning,” Williams said. “Our players are trying very hard, but we’ve got to start executing better. As coaches, we just want to see improvements from week to week.”
