The Brindlee Mountain Lions traveled last Friday night to Pisgah for a Class 3A Region 7 matchup.
Unfortunately for the Lions, Pisgah was just too much. The Eagles won the game 51-8 and handed Brindlee its third loss of the season.
Lions head coach Keith Garner said while the score may look lopsided, improvements are being made.
“On offense, we’re moving the ball pretty well,” he said. “We’re just getting bogged down when we get in the red zone. Our biggest problem is not being able to get off the field defensively. We’ve got to figure out how to get some stops and get off the field.”
Zack King led the Lions in rushing with 24 carries and 121 yards. Will Compton completed 11 of 14 passes for 78 yards. Kaleb Scott recorded five catches for 38 yards and Christian Adams snagged four catches.
“We’re really in the meat of the schedule right now,” Garner said. “It’s a grind, and we’ve got three starters out with injury. It doesn’t get any easier as we look ahead to Geraldine this Friday night.”
Geraldine ( 2-1) will travel to Brindlee Friday night for a Region 7 match up. The Bulldogs defeated Crossville in week zero, lost to Fyffe in week one and beat Plainview last week 48-6.
“We’ve just got to keep getting better each week,” Garner said. “Plus, with these injuries and our schedule we really just need to weather the storm. I’m looking for improvements each week.”
