Cheerleaders Sign

Three cheerleaders from Guntersville High have signed scholarships to cheer in college next year. They are Addy Yancy, Hunter Lane and Breeana Carter.

For the first time in school history, three Guntersville varsity cheerleaders signed their letters of intent to cheer in college next year, cheer sponsor Melanie Yancy said.

Addy Yancy and Breanna Carter will be cheering at Snead State Community College and Hunter Lane will be cheering at UAB.

"It has been my privilege to have coached these girls since seventh grade," Yancy said. "All 3 girls have cheered on the school squad as well as the competition squad. They have competed at the regional, state, and national level."

This year, all 3 girls were named All-American cheerleaders by the Universal Cheerleaders Association.

"Many times, as athletes have competed for this long, you see them go through a burn-out, but not these girls," Yancy said. "Each year I saw them push themselves harder. They spent countless hours in the gym outside of the regular school practice and work-out schedules. They pushed themselves to acquire greater strength, flexibility, and new tumbling and stunting skills. They are so passionate and they have a true ability to inspire those around them. They have shown great commitment to their teams, their schools, and their community. I am so proud of them!"
