Guntersville's U-12 TravelCats are going to the World Series

The Guntersville U-12 TravelCats are headed to the Dizzy Dean World Series in South Haven, Mississippi, starting July 20. Under head coach Chris Jackson, the team has completed an undefeated regular season with an overall record of 31-17.

The team played in several BPA sanctioned tournaments and won a championship in the division in the Diamond Cup Tournament.

This past weekend, the team participated in the State Dizzy Dean Tournament, with these results:

  • Guntersville won over Marburry 16-1
  • Huffman beat Guntersville 6-5 with the winning run in the last inning
  • Guntersville won against Rock Creek 10-0
  • Odenville beat Guntersville 8-5

The team has been together several years and coached by the same men. The players have excelled under these coaches and grown close as a team.

Today (Saturday) the team will be at Guntersville Foodland bagging groceries from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. Any money raised will go towards the players expenses.

The TravelCats are currently looking for sponsorship. If anyone is interested in sponsoring their trip, contact Chris Jackson at 256-558-0908.
