The upcoming week is HydroFest race week in Guntersville.
The official events kick off Thursday with a meet and greet with the race teams in the Guntersville High School parking lot from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m.
HydroFest testing and racing with 4 classes of boats, including Jet Skis, will begin Friday and run through Sunday. Gates open at 8 a.m. each morning.
In addition to all the action on the water, concerts will take place Friday and Saturday night in the beach area of the race venue.
Friday is a special emphasis on "faith and family," said John Davis Rollings. No alcoholic beverages will be sold in the race venue that day.
That evening at 6 p.m., Emmy-winning Christian artist Zach Williams will perform in concert. The concert is included in the weekend ticket package.
Alcoholic beverages will be sold throughout the venue on Saturday and Sunday, with the main racing taking place. The H1 Unlimited championship is scheduled for 4:50 Sunday afternoon.
On Saturday evening, 70s groups Orleans and Firefall will perform starting at 5 p.m.
Tickets will be available at any of the 3 gates this year. The cost is $20 for adults and $10 for children for a basic weekend pass.
Many more details will be in Wednesday's paper.
