Rep. Wes Kitchens is the newly appointed chairman of the Marshall County Republican Party.
He was appointed to the post by the Marshall County Republican Executive Committee Monday night. He takes the place of Sen. Clay Scofield.
“Clay is now the Senate majority leader and the constraints on his time meant it was time for someone else to take this role,” Rep. Kitchens said.
He said his goal as Republican chairman is to continue what they’ve been doing.
“We want to continue the growth of the Republican Party in Marshall County,” “We’ve had historic growth in the past 10 years. We want to maintain that growth while maintaining our conservative principles.”
The Republican Executive Committee and chairman guide the party in the county. The Republican Club is a separate entity that operates under the Executive Committee. The club chairman is Don Milligan.
The club meets the first Tuesday of every month at 6 p.m. at Wintzell’s. The meetings are open to the public.
