Real estate developer Patrick Lawler has purchased 1,033 acres on Fish Trap Road at Grant. It's the former Cecil Ashburn property there.

There are no immediate plans for developing it, Lawler said, but it will instead be used, at least for now, for his family's personal recreation.

Lawler enjoys watching wildlife and has a son who enjoys hunting. They plan to build a cabin on the property.

"We'd like to be able to start enjoying it this winter," Lawler said.

While there are no immediate plans for the property, Lawler doesn't buy much property that he doesn't see future development potential in.

"This piece of property is only 25 minutes from Huntsville," he said.

Lawler developed The Reserve at Guntersville Lake, a new lakeside residential area on Lewis Mountain, and is currently developing the Guntersville City Harbor.
