The Marshall County Legislative Delegation recently contributed $20,000 for technical training available at Snead State Community College.
The College receives $5,000 of the donation quarterly, beginning in April and continuing in May, August and October. The funding will be applied toward Manufacturing Skills Standards Council Certified Production Technician Training. Snead State will partner with manufacturers in Marshall County to deliver the CPT training to their incumbent workforce.
The CPT certification addresses the core technical competencies of higher skilled production workers in all sectors of manufacturing. The Manufacturers Skills Standards Council awards certificates to individuals who pass the assessments: Safety, Maintenance Awareness, Manufacturing Processes & Production, and Quality Practices & Measurement.
The goal of the CPT certification program is to raise the level of performance of production technicians, both to assist the individuals with acquiring higher-wage jobs and to help employers ensure their workforce increases the company’s productivity and competitiveness. The Certified Production Technician training recognizes, through certification, individuals who demonstrate mastery of the core competencies of manufacturing production through successful completion of the certification assessments.
