Want to start moving again? How about a style of dance that takes no fancy footwork – you just walk! The dance has a caller (sort of like square dancing does). This style exercises your brain and your muscles both.

It is a dance done with a partner but you do not have to have one to attend. These dances will be done gender-free, therefore your partner will not necessarily be of the opposite gender.

Helpful skills:

Do you count to 8?

Can you walk at a steady pace?

Can you tell right from left?

Can you remember who your partner is?

If you can do any 2 of the above, we think we can get you dancing!

The instructor is Jane Ewing of Grant. Jane is an active member of the North Alabama Country Dance Society (NACDS) in Huntsville and has been for 30 years. She has been teaching/calling contra dances for over 20 years all across the USA.

The dances will be on Wednesday evenings 6-7 at Guntersville Senior Center. The first Wednesday will be July 20 and weekly dances will occur if there is community interest.

Anyone interested should call Reita Graham, Director of the Senior Center, and register for the class at 256-505-3000, no special clothing is needed.
