If you plan to watch this year’s HydroFest from a boat, you’ll need to note some big changes from last year, according to the Marshall County Convention & Visitors Bureau.

At the event last year, there was some down time or “transition” time between races and people could drive their boats on the edge of the race course to go under the Warrenton Causeway and leave. That won’t be the case this year. Boating access underneath Warrenton Causeway will shut down each morning of HydroFest at 7 a.m. and won’t re-open until 5 p.m.

The Johnny Stewart Boat Ramps next to Tom Jackson Park and the Jaycees’ Boat Ramp at Warrenton will both close to the public at 12:01 a.m. on Wednesday, June 26, and not reopen for public use until 8 a.m. on Monday, July 1. These ramps will serve as the pit areas for four classes of boats racing in HydroFest.

Access to the race zone of Lake Guntersville will be closed to private boats on Friday, June 28.

(Continued on page 8) through Sunday, June 30, from 7 a.m. until 5 p.m. each day.

For spectators who wish to view the races by water, the Beech Creek ramp, located on Warrenton Road, will remain open, the Convention & Visitors Bureau said in a statement. For anyone wishing to leave the viewing area during active racing, this ramp will need to be utilized. Boats may launch at Beech Creek and watch the races from outside the course area.

People watching by boat aren’t required to have a ticket. For those wanting to watch from the Sunset Drive park, tickets can be purchased online at www.guntersvillelakehydrofest.com. Ticket prices for the Guntersville Lake Hydrofest are :

  • Adult general admission: $20 per weekend pass.
  • Children, ages 6-12 general admission: $10 per weekend pass (children age 5 and under will be free).
  • Adult Ultimate Weekend Pass: $40 per weekend pass (this pass allows transportation to and from the pit areas).
  • Children, ages 6-12 Ultimate Weekend Pass: $30 per weekend pass.
