Hurricane Response

A team of Guntersville firefighters is headed into the zone most likely to be impacted by Hurricane Sally.

Six Guntersville firefighters who are part of Task Force 3, a swift water rescue team made up of northeast Alabama firefighters, have been deployed as part of the response to Hurricane Sally, expected to make landfall near the Alabama-Mississippi state line.

The team includes 21 personnel from 5 departments: Guntersville, Ft. Payne, Madison, Decatur and Boaz, according to Guntersville fire marshal Buddy Pettry, who is part of the team.

They have swift water rescue boats and other equipment and will be staging in Prattville on Tuesday night to see where they need to go once the storm comes ashore. This is a developing story with more to come.
