City crews were out Thursday putting up the tree at Eroll Allan Park. The tree is set to be lit on Tuesday, Dec. 1, at 5:15 p.m.

Holiday happening are just around the corner in Guntersville as the Christmas season gets closer.

On Dec. 1, the tree in Errol Allan Park will be lit and the Guntersville First Baptist Pickers will perform. All the festivities on Dec. 1 will begin at 5:15 p.m.

On Dec. 4, the Downtown Merchants will hold their annual open house, which will be followed by Downtown’s Night Before Christmas on Dec. 5.

Then, the Guntersville Christmas Parade will be help on Saturday, Dec. 12, at 4 p.m.

The Guntersville Museum's Festival of Trees opened last Thursday night and will run through Jan. 3. Special music will take place on Sunday, December 6, with the RSVP Ukulele group and Sunday, December 13, with the RSVP Dulcimers.

The Whole Backstage is hosting a series of Christmas movies with $5 admission for each movie night. 

The movie schedule is:

Dec. 4, 7 p.m. “It’s a Wonderful Life”

Dec. 5, 2 p.m. “Elf”

Dec. 5, 8 p.m. “It’s a Wonderful Life”

Dec. 6, 2 p.m. “The Santa Clause”

Dec. 11, 7 p.m. “The Muppet Christmas Carol”

Dec. 12, 2 p.m. “The Grinch”

Dec. 12, 7 p.m. “Christmas Vacation”

Dec. 13, 2 p.m. “Christmas Vacation”
