Sanchez Watkins & Nell Hannon

City Councilman Sanchez Watkins and nurse practitioner Nell Hannon are shown at a vaccine clinic in the Lakeview community.

Fifty residents of the Lakeview Community in Guntersville received their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine this past weekend at a clinic organized by local Democrats.

“When the state’s top health official Dr. Scott Harris reported in February that a disproportionately small number of Black people were getting vaccinations against the new coronavirus in Alabama, we recognized the need to increase immunization efforts in the minority community,” explained Marshall County Democratic Executive Chairwoman Susan McKenney.

The event on Saturday was planned by McKenney, State Democratic Executive Committee member and Guntersville  District 1 City Council Member Sanchez Watkins, and County Democratic Executive Committee member and Guntersville Family Practice owner Nell Hannon, CRNP.
