A $1.5 million bond has been set in the drug case against James Verdel Evans.

He’s the 40-year-old man arrested last week by Guntersville Police after they got a call of a man being asleep in his car with a gun by his leg. He is charged with trafficking fentanyl, methamphetamine possession, possession of narcotics and being an ex-felon in possession of a firearm.

Even though a bond has been set in his case, he’s likely not going anywhere. He has 3 no bonds on charges of violating conditions of his release in other cases.

“Judge Chris Able took notice of Evans being a danger to the community and set the bond at $1.5 million,” said Mike Turner, the Guntersville investigator who worked the case. “I hope that’s an eye opener and sends a message to the rest of the drug dealers in Marshall County that this is what they can expect going forward.”
