Guntersville police officers were led on a high-speed chase Wednesday night at around 10:30 p.m. that went all the way into Albertville.
According to report, the suspect, Joshua Blake Morgan, was seen leaving the American Inn on a motorcycle. Officer Stephen Dasaro said he was parked at Cherokee Elementary when he saw Morgan leaving the American Inn.
Dasaro said Morgan left at a high rate of speed and also had no tag light. Dasaro lost the motorcycle due to the high rate of speed but saw Morgan again a few moments later turn off of Highway 79 onto Highway 431 southbound.
Morgan accelerated to a speed well over 55 mile per hour on the John Stockton Causeway when he noticed Dasaro behind him. Dasaro said Morgan reached speeds well over 100 mph as the chase continued down Highway 431.
At one point, the driver threw a black bag off of the back of the motorcycle and continued on. Albertville police then joined the chase once Morgan entered Albertville. He turned into the parking lot of Color Masters, then onto Railroad Avenue and continued onto Ham Road. He eventually wrecked on Rice Mill-Chavers Road where he was taken into custody.
Upon investigating the bag Morgan dropped behind him, officers found two small bags of meth and alprazolam pills. Morgan was charged with possessions of a controlled substance, attempting to elude and reckless endangerment.
