It is believed that the heavy rains over the past few days are what led to a tree falling on Highway 69 just past the causeway.

It happened around lunchtime Thursday.

When it fell, it did not fall across the electrical lines, but it did take down some communication lines. The power lines are across the road from where the tree fell.

One vehicle was involved in the accident. Megan Hinchee was on her way back to work when she noticed the tree swaying. She said she slammed on her brakes, but it still struck her. There were no other people in the vehicle and she was not injured.

It happened at 12:01 and blocked traffic for a little over half an hour. They opened the road back up at 12:37 p.m. Traffic was stopped and they did not have a set detour, but there were several cars that went down Warrenton Road.
