Gunter & Patterson Wreck

Guntersville fire medics work to free a woman trapped in this Chevrolet Equinox. It was knocked upside down when the Toyota pickup in the background turned into it, witnesses said. The woman left the scene in an ambulance.

One person was apparently hurt Monday afternoon in a rollover wreck at Patterson Street and Gunter Avenue.

Witnesses said a Chevrolet Equinox was traveling north on Gunter when a Toyota pickup turned and broadsided it. The impact flipped the Equinox upside down beside Top Dollar Pawn.

An older man and woman were in the Equinox. The man was out and sitting on the tailgate of a nearby truck. The woman was trapped inside the wreckage. It took Guntersville firefighters several minutes to extricate her, get her on a backboard and loaded onto a stretcher and into an ambulance.

No wreck report had not been completed when we went to press. Guntersville Police officer Dillon Guffey was investigating.

There have been a number of accidents in that particular stretch of road. Two traffic lights are close together there and several side streets empty onto Gunter at various locations near there.
