Graveside services for Phillip Bruce Bishop of Union Grove will be Monday, June 3, at 2 p.m. at Marshall Memory Gardens. Marshall Memorial Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.

Mr. Bishop died Wednesday, May 29, 2019. He was 87.

Mr. Bishop served in the Korean War, where he received the Korean Service Medal, Navy Occupation Asia Service Medal and China Service Medal. After he was honorably discharged, he came back to Marshall County where he lived the last 60 years. 

While living in Guntersville, he served his community as a volunteer firefighter. He was a member of the Shriners and he was a Mason.

Mr. Bishop never met a stranger and always made friends with anyone new that he met. He was known for his friendliness and his ability to put new friends at ease.

Mr. Bishop is survived by his daughter, Kathy Smallwood; a son, Christopher Bishop; and several brothers and sisters, grandchildren, great grandchildren and numerous cousins.
