Pontoon Fire

Kerry and Karen Greenwell ran across this pontoon boat on fire in the road as they tried to go to the State Park for dinner Saturday night.

The Guntersville Fire Department responded to a call of a reported boat on fire near the entrance to the Guntersville State Park off Highway 227.

It appeared the pontoon boat was being towed when the trailer broke and caused the boat to catch fire. No injuries were reported. The boat was fully engulfed in flames when the fire department arrived on the scene.

Kerry and Karen Greenwell were driving to eat that evening nearby when they noticed the fire.

"Only in Guntersville can dinner plans be interrupted by a pontoon boat burning in the roadway," they said.
