Sandy Mann

When she's not working, Sandy Mann loves fishing on Guntersville Lake. 

This week, The Advertiser Gleam spotlights Sandy Mann, an artist and decorator who has now turned her attention to a vacation rental business on Lake Guntersville. It is worth noting that Sandy loves to fish.

Q: When and where were you born?

A: “I was born in Birmingham Ala.”

Q: Where did you attend school?

A: "I graduated From Mortimer Jordan High School."

Q: Where all have you lived?

A: "I’ve lived in Warrior, Cullman and Guntersville."

Q: Where do you work? Tell us about your job/company.

A: "I work running my company, Brown’s Creek Cabin Rentals LLC.

Q: What led you to your profession?

A: "I came about my company when we moved to Guntersville and bought the house across the street. We had no idea what we would do until with them until a lot of our fishing friends needed a place to stay during tournaments. So I bought 2 more and rent mostly to people coming to Guntersville to fish."

Q: What do you enjoy most about your job?

A: "I love my job. I’ve had fisherman and lake lovers from Canada, Washington State and almost every state in the country. We have made such wonderful friends all over and have many repeat guest."

Q: What was your first job?

A: "My first job was at a retail clothing store named Yeildings in Gardendale, Ala.

Q: If you could relive one day from your life, what day would you choose?

A: If I could relive any day of my life it would be any day I get to fish with my husband, Terry Mann.

Q: What is your spouse’s name? What does he do for a living?

A: "I’m married to Terry Mann, who owns Mann Plumbing in Warrior, Ala."

Q: Do you have any children?

A: "I have three grown children John, Josh and Jake Mann."

Q: If you could have anything for your last meal on earth, what would it be?

A: "I love Mexican food."

Q: If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go?

A: "I traveled to Israel in 2019 and I would love to go back. It’s amazing."

Q: What hobbies do you like to do in your spare time?

A: "My hobbies are fishing, painting art and pottery."

Q: What do you enjoy about living and working in Guntersville and Marshall County?

A: "I absolutely love Guntersville because we are an outdoor family and we have the best time enjoying the lake."

Q: If you could have lunch with anyone from your life or history, who would it be and why?

A: If I could have lunch with anyone from history I’d choose the artist Jackson Pollock. His art changed everything.

Q: Would you rather read a good book or watch a good movie and why?

A: "I’d have to say I’d prefer a movie to a book because I could enjoy a movie with my husband."

Q: What moment in your life has had the biggest impact on you?

A: "One moment I can recall that changed my life was when Terry came home one day and told me had rented an art studio for me....I had no idea I’d ever have a studio to teach out of and show my art."

Q: What would be the No. 1 thing on your Bucket List?

A: "Bucket list is to fish and win a tournament with my husband."

Q: "If you could describe your morals in three words, what would they be?"

A: “Just be honest."

Q: How would you like to be remembered?

A: "I would like to be remembered as being a kind and creative person who loved life."
