Ramona Roberts

Mrs. Ramona Roberts of Guntersville, Alabama, went to be with her Lord and Savior on November 1, 2019.

Born to William and Ethyle Westwick on September 9, 1925, Ramona spent her first twelve years growing up on a ranch in Douglas, Wyoming. Ramona moved with her parents to Peoria, Illinois, at age thirteen. Upon graduation from high school, Ramona attended Bradley University where she studied nursing. During this time she met and fell in love with Alton B. Roberts, Jr. After marrying in 1947, she and Alton returned south, eventually moving to his hometown, Lithonia, Georgia, where they made their home for many years.

Living a life of Christianity, it was evident to those around her how much she loved the Lord. Ramona was a former member of First Baptist Church of Lithonia, serving in many capacities. After moving to Covington, Georgia, in 1978, Ramona became a member of Bethany Presbyterian Church, where she served as an elder.

Upon moving to Guntersville in 2005, her church family became Grace Fellowship Presbyterian in Albertville. In addition to serving the Lord, Ramona was a member of the DAR, enjoyed genealogy, reading, bird watching, and supporting missions worldwide. She had a gift in making others feel loved and cared for.

Preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Alton B. Roberts, Jr. and her daughter, Marian Hicks, Mrs. Roberts is survived by her loving children, Linda and Mike Alred of Guntersville; Cathy and Tom Alred of Boaz; and Chuck and Mona Roberts of Greensboro, Georgia, as well as grandchildren, Jim and Tara Alred, Rome, Georgia; Catherine and Steven Crisp, Dacula, Georgia; Wes and Mary Alred, Guntersville; Casey and Randoloh Poynter, Covington, Georgia; Charlie and Catharine Roberts, Birmingham; Charles and Jennifer Hicks III, Braselton, Georgia; Shelbee and John Sorrell, Chapel Hill, N.C. and sister-in-law, Florence Robinson, Lithonia, Georgia. Mrs. Roberts was also blessed with seventeen great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

Arrangements are being handled by Guntersville Memorial Chapel in Guntersville. The funeral was Tuesday at Grace Fellowship Presbyterian Church, Albertville. Interment will be at 12:30 on Wednesday, November 6, at Hillandale Memorial Gardens in Lithonia, Georgia.
