Ruby Jo Wood

Ruby Jo Wood, 93, of Guntersville, passed away peacefully at home on October 4, 2020. 

Ruby was born on November 29, 1926, in Guntersville to Aaron & Emma Sorter Buchanan. She was a devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. 

She was a huge Alabama football fan and attended many home games up until she was 85 years old. She was an avid walker and walked the city walking trail year-round. She was known to some city Rec Center employees as "Road Runner" for her walking habit.

Ruby Joe is survived by three daughters, Nancy Wood, Tara Elliott (Terry) and Candace Garrison; six grandchildren, Sabrina Plunkett (David), Janessa Price (Scottie), Joanna Upton, Matthew Elliott (Jordan), Brent Elliott (Brianna), Jordan Elliott (Kelsey); and 14 great-grandchildren. 

She was preceded in death by four sisters, Bobbie Kelley, Mamie Collins, Grace Talley and Tommy Summers; one borther, Yousa Buchanan; three great-grandchildren, Taigen Black, Emma Price and Carson Elliott.

Ruby was a member of Connect Church. A graveside service was held on Oct. 7 with Bro. Keith Langner officiating. 

Pallbearers were Terry Elliott, Matthew Elliott, Brent Elliott, Jordan Elliott, David Talley and Mack Stewart.
