Sandra Winfrey

Sandra Clines Winfrey, 58, of Guntersville, died peacefully in her home Friday morning, May 31, 2019. She had been diagnosed with cancer last fall.

Sandra was born June 9, 1960, in Guntersville Hospital. She was the third of Tom and Nila Clines’ four children. She attended Guntersville city schools and was a 1978 graduate of Guntersville High School.

Sandra worked at the Arrow Shirt Factory in Boaz after high school. She was a homemaker for several years after the birth of her daughter, Edna Marie, in 1993. Sandra returned to work later as a substitute lunchroom worker and custodian for the Guntersville school system. She became a full-time employee at Guntersville High School and later transferred to Guntersville Elementary School.

Sandra was a talented seamstress, painter, wallpaper hanger and gardener, and loved animals. She doted on her nieces and nephews and was excited to work in the school that their children attended.

Sandra was a member of Connect Church in Guntersville.

Her family would like to thank Heartlite Hospice Care Alabama for its services and care to Sandra in her final weeks. Sandra was humbled by the sick leave her fellow school employees donated to her.

Sandra’s funeral was Sunday, June 2, at Guntersville Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Dr. Keith Langner officiating and her niece, Amanda McCormack, delivering the eulogy. Burial was in Marshall Memory Gardens.

She is survived by one daughter, Edna Marie Winfrey of Guntersville; her mother, Nila Clines of Guntersville; one sister, Melissa Peebles, of Guntersville; two brothers, Keith Clines of Huntsville, and James Clines of Guntersville; several nieces and nephews; and special pet, Zoey. She was preceded in death by her father, Tom Clines.

Pallbearers were Charles Bolton, Richard Bolton, Chuck Jordan, Wesley Shaneyfelt, Mike McCormack and Chris Isom.

Donations in Sandra’s memory can be made to Second Chance Snimal Shelter.
