On May 2, 2023, Deputy Destin Pace attempted to stop a blue Toyota for a traffic moving violation on Hwy 75N near Cochran’s Corner, Sheriff Phil Sims said.Â
The vehicle refused to stop and accelerated speed, the sheriff continued. During the pursuit, Deputy Pace observed a black object thrown from the passenger side of the vehicle. The pursuit crossed into Dekalb County and ended when the driver lost control of the vehicle and wrecked in a field on Co. Rd. 136. Two individuals were injured in the vehicle and transported to Marshall Medical South for treatment.
After being released from hospital, both individuals were transported to the Marshall County Jail.
"Deputies were able to recover the object thrown from the vehicle and found it contained approximately one quarter pound of methamphetamine," Sheriff Sims said.Â
Aaron Sutherland, 23, of Crossville, is charged with drug trafficking, attempt to elude, failure to appear on previous charges, and tampering with evidence. He remains in the jail under a $750,000 bond. Abby Sebastian, 26, of Albertville, is charged with drug trafficking and tampering with evidence. She remains in jail under a $200,000 bond.
