The Spring2Summer wakeboarding competition will be in Guntersville next weekend for the 12th year.

It’s held on Spring Creek, based out of the Steel Ford Boat Ramp near Publix. That boat ramp will be closed that day for the competition, but visitors who want to watch the competition from the bank are welcome there and in the city park in front of Publix.

“We hope to have 50 to 60 riders,” said Shane Cook of Wake Factory, the organization that puts on the event.

Early registration is Friday night at the Wyndham. The tournament starts Saturday at 9 a.m.

“We say every year it starts at 9 a.m., but it’s usually more like 10 a.m.,” Cook said. “We’ll run until we are finished.”

An after party will take place at Buffalo Eddie’s at the Wyndham.

If you’re coming by boat to watch the wakeboarders, there’s usually a flotilla of vessels tied together for spectators.

“That whole area of Spring Creek will be idle speed only and boaters need to stay out of the contest line,” Cook said.

A food vendor is expected to be on site.
