Street Sweeper Truck

Wayne Davenport's truck sustained heavy damage when he apparently pulled in front of the city street sweeper.

Wayne Davenport of Cullman didn't know his way around downtown Guntersville and he was trying to get from Gunter Avenue back to Blount.

Somehow he got in front of the city street sweeper truck in the vicinity of Taylor Street and Gunter Avenue. The sweeper struck his pickup truck in the driver's side door.

It happened last Thursday morning and caused a brief traffic logjam for vehicles going south through town.

Davenport said he wasn't sure what happened. He was not hurt.

"My daughter is in the hospital and is about to have surgery," he said.

He was looking for the hospital when the accident happened.

The street sweeper had a small crack in its front bumper but did not appear to have any serious damage.
