Senior Destiny Bentley is a utility player for the GHS varsity volleyball team. Depending on the rotation and the game, she might play front row or back or both. She has been on varsity since post season her freshman year.

After finishing area away games with a 3-0 record, Guntersville lost it’s first area game at home to Fairview 1-3. The ‘Cats were down two players and two others were playing injured.

The team just couldn’t get any kind of rhythm going. Fairview took the first set, but GHS came back and won the second. They continued to fight but came up short in the third and fourth sets.

Brewer was the next area team to come to Guntersville. Everyone was back, but the match started very sluggish. The ‘Cats found themselves down ten points in the first set but managed to stage a comeback and win. The second set started much like the first, but GHS came back and took the second set as well. They started out strong in the third. Brewer tied the game up at 19, but the ‘Cats prevailed and won the match 3-0.

GHS will play in the county turnament Tuesday at DAR. Their last area game will be Thursday against West Point. Thursday will also be Senior Night.
