Berlun Jackson

Mr. Berlun Gene Jackson, age 85, passed away Wednesday, February 5, 2020 at his home.

Berlun was born on October 5, 1934, to Roy M. Jackson and Flora N. Jackson. He attended and graduated from Kate Duncan Smith DAR High School. After graduation, he went to work for the FBI in Washington, D.C. on a program for young high school graduates. He later returned to Marshall County to help run Jackson Paving & Construction Inc., the family business, until he retired in 1999.

Berlun was a Christian who faithfully attended the Guntersville Church of Christ. He loved his entire family and was proud of his brother, sisters, children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. He also loved his wife, and the two became inseparable for 64 years. He was proud of the family business begun by his dad. Jackson Paving became a family legacy that filled him with humble pride. His brother, their two sons, daughter, and two grandchildren continued building the company for over 61 years.

He is survived by his wife, Ursula Ann Jackson; daughter, Debbie Teel (Stan); son, Ron Jackson (Donna); and twin daughters, Karla Jackson Butler (Dick) and Kristi Jackson Black (Lane). He is also survived by eight grandchildren, Jennifer Jackson Ellis (Jim), Zachary Blake Cooper (Sara), Adam Bryan Butler (Marianne), Lindsay Cooper Catt (Charles), Jarrod Wayne Jackson (Morgan), Hailey Black Benton (Marcus), Thaddaeus Lane Black (Mackenzie), and Trenton Jackson Black. He is also survived by thirteen great grandchildren; his brother, Doyle H. Jackson (Jean); and sisters, Dorothy Tulley and Sandra Grigg (Jim).

Along with his parents, Berlun was preceded in death by a sister, Fern Jackson Bevel.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, February 9, at Guntersville Church of Christ with Bro. James Dudley officiating. Friends may visit with the family on Sunday from 1 p.m. until the time of service. Burial will follow in Free Home Cemetery in Grant.
