Euthema Mitchell Goodson passed away on Tuesday, October 20, 2020. She was a resident of Barfield Health Care Facility in Guntersville for the past seven years prior to being transferred to Talledega, where she passed with Covid 19.
She was born on January 7, 1927, to Clarence and Annie Mitchell near New Hope. She was a graduate of Berry College in Rome, Georgia. She taught school for many years at John A. Patton in Tiftonia, near Chattanooga, Tennessee.
She was a voracious reader and a prayer warrior. She was well known for saying “Blessed by the Best” as her greeting for everyone. She was a dedicated Christian of the Baptist faith. She worked in child evangelism in the summer time. Euthema was dearly loved by her students and faculty.
Mrs. Goodson was married and divorced from Billy Jack Goodson.
Mrs. Goodson is survived by 2 sisters, Lillian Mitchell Botos of Madison, Ala. and Olivia Mitchell Rievley of Chattanooga, Tenn.; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Ms. Goodson is preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Annie Mitchell of New Hope; two sons, Billy Mark Goodson and Charles Lowell Goodson of Chattanooga, Tenn.; sister, Syble Mitchell Gwin of Grant and Floreeta Mitchell Partrick of Chattanooga, Tenn.; and a brother, Bud Mitchell of Grant.
A graveside service was held on Thursday, October 22, at 12:00 p.m. with Bro. Anthony Barnes officiating. Interment was in Walker Cemetery in the Hebron Community with Grant Memorial Chapel directing.
