Frances Maples Mann of New Hope passed to her heavenly home on May 6, 2023, at the age of 101. She was born April 19, 2022.
She always felt that Marshall County was her second home, having family roots on Merrill Mountain. Her husband was involved in the construction of the 2nd lock of the Guntersville Dam in the 1960's.
As a young woman, she obtained her teaching credentials from Florence State Teachers College (now University of North Alabama). Then marriage and family became her life, totally devoting herself to both.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Thomas Elsworth Mann; son David Thomas Mann; parents Exie and Madison "Bud" Maples; and all her siblings, 5 brothers and 4 sisters.
She is survived by her daughter, Amy Mann of New Hope; daughter-in-law Charlotte Loman Mann; 3 grandsons Michael (Terri) Mann of Owens Cross Roads, Daniel (Christine) Mann of Huntsville and Christopher (Emma) Mann of Lincoln, Nebraska; 6 great grandchildren Scott, Sarah, Emma, Jason, Freyja and Athena; and 2 step great grandchildren, Kaitlyn and Sierra. Other survivors include 5 nieces, 5 nephews and so many cousins.
Visitation was Friday at New Hope Funeral Home. A graveside service followed at Whitaker Cemetery with Ronald Bridges officiating.
