James Leonard Benson, 71, of Guntersville passed away April 25, 2021, at his home.
He was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and grew up in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. He moved to Guntersville in 1995.
Jim enjoyed the car business for over 40 years. He also helped to build a business of rental houses, Benson Properties, with his wife. Jim enjoyed hunting and fishing.
He was preceded in death by his father, Leonard Ellison Benson, and mother, Maxine Sloniker Benson.
He is survived by his wife, Debbie Ratliff Benson; sons, James Benson and Chris Baron; daughter, Jessica Hintz; grandchildren, Emma, Anna, Kory and Taylor; brother, Jerry Benson; and sister, Jan Benson.
Visitation was at Guntersville Memorial Chapel Tuesday night. A graveside service was at Bethel Baptist Church in Snead on Wednesday. Pallbearers were Phillip Mosley, Chad Mosley, Dexter Wright, Justin Miller, Chris Hundley and Todd Ellis.
