Ken Swafford

Charles Kenneth Swafford passed away at his home on Friday, December 18, 2020, at the age of 88.

He was born in Guntersville, Alabama in 1932. He enjoyed growing up at Guntersville Lake and had many adventures during his childhood. He graduated from Marshall County High School in 1950. Ken entered the Air Force and was stationed in Goosebay Laborador, Newfoundland.

Ken has been retired since 1988. He worked for 38 years as a computer specialist with the U.S. Army Missile Command at Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville, Alabama. Ken remained in Huntsville until 1998 and then he and his wife, Barbara, moved to Memphis, Tennessee to be near their daughter’s family.

Ken is survived by his wife Barbara Givens Swafford; his daughter Liz Swafford Mulroy (Tim); and his grandson Charles “Chaz” Thomas Mulroy; and several nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, James Revice and Ella Walker Swafford; a daughter, Charla Swafford; a brother, Dean Swafford; and a sister, Zelpha Lee Swafford Bartley.

Ken was known for his quick wit and lovable smile.

The family held a graveside service at the West Tennessee Veterans Cemetery, 4000 Forest Hill Irene Road, Memphis, Tennessee on February, 21, 2021, at 3:00 p.m.
