Lewis S. Stewart entered into his heavenly home surrounded by his family on Tuesday, July 6, 2021.

Born Sept.22, 1936 to the late Wendell & Lillard Stewart of Guntersville, Lewis was a U.S. Army veteran. He served during the Vietnam War. Upon returning home, he worked at Revere and later retired from Redstone Arsenal.

After retirement, Lewis served as a volunteer for many years at Guntersville Elementary School. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Guntersville where he loved singing in the choir and serving the Lord.

Lewis was a true example of what a Christian's walk with Christ should be. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 56 years, Lilly Kate Stewart; daughter, Patricia Mize (John); sons, Stanley Stewart (Jennifer)  and Chris Stewart; 9 grandchildren, Ron, Tyler, Hunter, Hailey, Timothy, Cole, Cara, Jessica & Ashley; 11 great-grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces and nephews; sister Martha Ann Bundy; and brother Bobby Stewart (Donna).

Visitation for family and friends was held Thursday, July 8,  at First Baptist Church of Guntersville. Funeral services were held on Friday, July 9, 2021, at the First Baptist Church of Guntersville followed by burial at the Stewart Family Cemetery.
