War Memorial

Marshall County's war dead are memorialized in this monument on the Courthouse lawn.

To the Advertiser-Gleam:

I agree with Anthony Campbell’s analysis of the current impasse between the City Council and the Veteran’s Park Committee. The issue has polarized both sides toward their point of view and into a situation where both seem to be unable to compromise. But I blame the City Council for this. The Council should have taken a proactive leadership role in this search for a proper Veteran’s Park. The Council only did what Mr. Campbell implied, i.e., kicking the can down the road by not voting on the issue or taking a leadership role in finding a space for the park.
